I have PhD plus 11 yoe. I was hoping L65 But getting L64. Is level negotiable or not ? Interview was medium, neither smashing hit nor particularly bad. What’s the chance offer will be withdrawn if I try to negotiate level ?
Offer won’t likely be withdrawn if it’s done respectfully. They may have a hard stop. If you are new to MSFT, I would focus on base and signing at 64 and use the onboarding year to shine. You’ll get promoted quickly if you do and you’ll likely make more TC in first year or two as a strong 64. 65 is a very tough level and measured with 65-67. If you’re not leading people, it is even harder to have the same impact. Just my 2 cents.
