Hey guys got an onsite with Microsoft tomorrow and just wanted to see if anyone had some tips or advice for tomorrow. I’ve been doing a lot of leetcode however I’m hearing MSFT doesn’t take their problems directly from leetcode anymore and I just wanted to see if that was true. I was told I’d be asked some front end questions with a system design round and since system design is my WEAK point that’s what I’m brushing up on right now.
If you have practised stuff and solved problems yourself then, one evening of study or tips wouldn't make any difference and if you haven't solved enough problems even then one night of study or tips wouldnt matter. Sleep well, reach on time for the interview and dress well. Good luck!
share your onsite experience plz
Practice whiteboarding and talking through your solutions out loud.
Before writing code, do outline some test cases. Not sure why but Microsoft people (older ones) love test cases way before you write anything.
Just make sure to wear a shirt to show cleavage
Nice!
Understand problem statement Ask questions to clarify in detail Code happy path for sure in time plus add error handling or edge case handling as you progress Testing for happy path then negative cases, edge cases and perf case Be ready to calculate big o notation performance Should be able to get you through if you cover above decently
I usually like to find test cases after I’ve written code just to find bugs, is that a nay or yay?
That works
Good luck. Sleep a lot. Remember that there’s pretty much nothing you can do at this point to change your performance. Worrying isn’t going to help. Also, if you travelled here to Seattle... be sure to max out the dining credit MSFT gives you! Enjoy some good food!!
Easiest interview ever. Don’t fret it.
You've never designed a system before?
One year of experience , no
Dafuq you do then
