What’s the travel policy at Microsoft? Can you fly business for international travel?
No
Get cvp approval for above 7 hours
Whaaat? No business class even for 10 hour flight to Europe? Holy fuck, I would just refuse to travel. It's not a pleasure trip.
Yes, you can fly business. For flights over seven hours with CVP approval.
Does the CVP approve every such employee's request personally? What a waste of time.
I’d assume they’d delegate the approval to their Admin, and have the admin kick it up if it looks fishy
You get approval once a year. Take e thirty seconds.
And approval depends on the group. Some groups are perceived money makers and approve, some are perceived cost centers are regularly denied.
As with pretty much every question of this nature: it depends and, contrary to popular belief, common sense typically prevails. Nobody will force you into a cargo hold for your daily, twelve-hour flight.
Makes sense. My old company had a simple policy of business above 8 hours that only required approval if booked less than 30 days in advance.
Get a medical exception... if you have back issues or some other health problems that prevent you from being confined for an extended period of time
Common knowledge that nobody from Europe flying to Seattle requests cvp approval as it's not in the budget. With most not direct it will be roughly 15 hours flying
