I am considering an offer from Microsoft 365 MyAnalytics team. Can anyone provide insights on the team, the product, learning and growth opportunities? I also have an offer from a team under Amazon's eCommerce platform. The compensation offered by both companies is: Microsoft Base: 110k Sign-on: 50k Stocks: 120k over 3.5 years Amazon Base: 112k Sign-on: 58k Stocks: 80k over 4 years Which of the two will be a better option in terms of learning opportunities and future career growth?
Microsoft got better benefits like 401 match adds up.
Why is it so low?
Both are new grad packages.
MS has better wlb
But this person is young
I don’t understand why people think young = don’t aim for wlb. Wlb in the long run affects mental, physical and social health. Given how much bullshit you hear about Amazon on here (+ bias from my own experience) I’d personally chose the Microsoft offer. Benefits, wlb and stock vesting is better at MS. At the end of the day, managers change sentiment, reorgs happen but in general, Microsoft is an emphatic company. Never got that vibe from Amazon
Amazon is ergonomically darwinistic. Nuff’ said time for me to go back to trap that rain water.
Ask your hiring manager from Amazon to share their connections data over a coffee chat. If they hesitate, that’s a red flag. Amazon gives shitty managers a lot of power. At the end of the day data speaks for itself and I think asking for connections data should be standard practice. Engineers need to interview hiring managers too :) If you’re in a work visa situation, I’d chose Microsoft as well.
Can you explain what a connections data is/are?
Also want to know what knightPar means by connections data
Sine financially it’s same offer. I ll go for where there is more opportunity to learn. Amazon wins as it’s probably one of the most innovative company among FAANG-M.
Microsoft
Amazon - more interesting work, more to learn, more innovation Microsoft - much better WLB, better benefits Both will look equally good on your resume. Congrats on the offers.
Microsoft Azure seems like it has more room to grow, AWS has become saturated with dozens upon dozens of single use services, I dont really see room to grow or build the next big thing at Amazon

For growth and learning I would pick Amazon as you are so young. Did you negotiate with either companies?
