Microsoft vs Apple (Hyderabad)
I am currently an SDE2 at Amazon with 3yoe in total. I have offers from Microsoft and Apple. I'm having tough time deciding which option to go ahead with? Could you please comment on factors like quality of work, hike or target percentage, work culture, timings, perks Work: 1. Microsoft in the wxp (word, excel, powerpoint) mobile team under office. I would be working on building mobile applications. Android applications in java and iOS in Objective C. 2. Apple, I'll be working on big data in Ads team. Tech stack would have hadoop, spark, java, scala, python I dont have experience in either of the roles above. Designation: Microsoft - level 61 Apple - low levelled me to ICT2 How is the bonus percentage at Microsoft? Also, how are the refresher/merit stocks which are allocated during performance reviews at both the companies? What is the percentage of hike on base at both the companies? How are the stocks allocated going to change on promotion to level 62 or ICT3 at these companies? Is ICT2 at Apple a low level for me? Also, what are the chances of transferring to US in either of the companies in terms of exposure? And, which of them is a bigger tag? :P
Apple Hyd is shit. And our work culture is horrible. Be prepared to be treated like a slave.
Lol, my colleague looks to be a disgruntled employee of Apple :). Work might not be that great but culture is definitely not bad. I would like to know how many hours the so called slaves work everyday at Apple?
Is the work not good? I thought big data with hadoop spark would be great? Atleast it looked interesting by the conversation I had with manager
You won't get international transfer at msft until level 62, and promotions are never that easy. If I were you I'd stay at Amazon another year and then try for L62 at msft.

Don't jump ships at same level or pay. Work will be same, politics will be same. For some initial time you feel good about your new project, teams, etc good. Then it becomes all same and now you want leave that place again
At ICT2, you get 3k stock annually

I don’t know about Microsoft but Apple has certainly low balled you. My understanding is you don’t get stock refresh ( you may get cash bonus) at ICT2 at Apple unless you perform exceptionally well. Ask for atleast ICT3 otherwise I wouldn’t join. But I don’t have datapoint to compare with MS.
HR said I might receive around 20K USD as stock refreshers?
I highly doubt for ICT2. Not sure about India though.
