Microsoft vs wayfair
Got an offer from msft and wayfair. Need some suggestions where to go ? In terms of seattle vs boston and future growth as well. YOE:2.8years as software engineer TC in Microsoft: Location- redmond Level 60 115k base 50k stocks 30k sign on Wayfair: Location- Boston Not yet disclosed but initially hr mentioned as 125k-135k in boston, also stocks

Did you try to negotiate with Microsoft ?
Yes. Initially they offered 114.5k, 25k stocks, 7.5k sign on. Later they increased to the above mentioned tc
So 7.5k sign on to 30k. Did they ask you to show other offer letters? What did you day during negotiation ?

I won't recommend Wayfair. I declined the offer however I was very inclined to join the same. But, the tech stack is outdated. Most of the teams still use PHP, MySQL etc. I did not find that really fascinating so thought of passing it. Microsoft should be a better deal. I would suggest negotiation with them.
We don't use MySQL. We use MSSQL. It's infinitely worse.
Go to Microsoft. And not just because Microsoft is an infinitely better company. Wayfair is among the *best* Boston companies to work for in tech. That should tell you something about Boston tech companies. There is actually no reason to still be considering the Wayfair offer after you got the Microsoft offer.
