So hard being a women in tech industry
Passed tech screen. Had a team interview 3 weeks ago. Felt confident coming out of them. It's the job Im really hoping for but an offer from my backup is coming in tomorrow. Asked the MS recruiter for feedback and got "interviews wrapping up this week. Hiring decision will be next week." Anyone able to help decode? Seems like if I was a "no" then they would tell me that now. What are the reasons for holding off on decisions until the end? Kind of sounds obvious but on hiring committees I've been on when we see someone we want we don't wait for the other interviews - we proceed. Tc:150 yoe:15
They probably only have 1 headcount and had other candidates they thought were more promising.
In the same boat, interviewed 4 weeks back, I have followed up with the recruiter twice during this time "It is taking a bit longer than anticipated for final feedback, so I appreciate your patience. As you can imagine, there are a lot of moving parts." My interview went well and the hiring manager said I was amongst the top 2 candidates. But now it feels like they are talking to Candidate 1 and keeping me in back pocket.
Sounds like you aren't their #1 choice.
