Microsoft is giving a lot of valuable benefits which will add into the package. 1. Help with green card no matter which level of you. 2. Good family medical insurance. This is super important for family with kids. 3. 401k ESPP. 4. Sick Leave, Work from home, Vocations etc. 5. Good work life balance mostly. 6. Good job security. Microsoft rarly fire people, it filled with many incompeteive old people, and company doesnt care too much. Small companies will fire you hundreds times. Given all of the above I would say Microsoft TC number adds 20% is the fair value.

Most ppl fired by FB are from MS... GG mostly lowball MS candidates while giving max offer to FB candidates...

I agree.. The benefits are unbeatable when you include work life balance as well.. one of the reasons comp is so low is because people sit around for years and don't want to leave.. Others have higher comp cos of ppl jumping around - why would you when things are so comfortable.. Also having lived in sf and Seattle - Seattle is still wayyyy more affordable..

Well it's not like no one works.. Obviously most people ranting tend to exaggerate.. Microsoft didn't just get to a trillion dollars with everyone slacking.. I've met brilliant engineers in every team that I've been in.. Always had a lot to learn.. And Microsoft is so large that I'm pretty certain you will find any kind of product / challenges if you look around.. Including easy and fast paced teams.. Besides, it also means you get to try new things without fear of failure.. Just because you're not constantly under pressure to perform doesn't mean it's not "fun".. I agree the tc is a little lower today than market.. But that's because everyone outside Microsoft is always jumping around to increase their tc.. And no one inside wants to leave..
Then airbnb is 30% more than its TC value since WLB is better and job is more stable. ( I am ex msft er)
