Ml engineer without a PhD

I did research in machine visions as an undergrad with a professor and I really liked it. But with very limited experience, it is really hard to become a machine learning engineer without going back to school. Is there any success story where people become machine learning expert/engineer at faamg without a master/phd? If so can I dm you for guidance please? Tc 168 Yoe 1
