So, like everyone here I make more than 100K a year and have for more than 10 years now. still single though. i have a plant, it’s alive. i have been contemplating getting a dog or having a kid. what do you do with your money other than savings, almost a million in savings, max 401K, max stock options, and some other stock investments here and there and 2 properties, one house in mortgage and one office space paid in full and now providing cash flow, also living comfortably? not large but not scarce either? I also do give to charity and volunteer too. i also invest in myself freely with therapists and other alternative and holistic treatments I pay out of pocket.

Yeah I am looking at more properties for passive investment. Are there other passive investments other than real estate?

Join a career related club or professional society? If you are a Christian, church worked for me. Even if you’re not a Christian, church may work 😂

Maybe check out the ChooseFI Facebook and one of their local offshoots. May have good luck at a local meetup. Lots of frugal minded folks.

I have tried the christian church and meetups but as an attractive and well paid female other well paid devs don’t dare. The only guys who dare, because they have nothing to lose are either unemployed or underemployed significantly. I don’t mind being not married but would also not mind finding someone who makes a similar wage than I do and who appreciates it and has invested wisely and donated too.

I once dated the son of miss texas or whatever. Very well looking but a low functioning Addict (below my level of consciousness). I once dated a well off startup founder in the bay area but he was all like I don’t want to make money anymore (above my level of consciousness).

“Nothing causes greater joy than serving a cause greater than yourself.” - Someone

Give it away man. Once you feel like you are doing everything you gotta do...(Save, invest, secure you and your family’s future, etc.)...Give extremely generously to causes you believe in and make a positive difference in the world.

Literally you cannot beat the feeling. My wife and I give 35% of take home pay away, and we are aiming for much higher as we start earning more. We make 250ish combined before taxes, and even though we are in SoCal, we give like crazy. Could we (afford a house, retire earlier, feel more secure, etc) if we didn’t give so much? Definitely, but where’s the fun in that if you haven’t made the world a better place?

This is not altruistic, just a helpful life tip. 😉

Very true. But I still did this during years of my PhD when I earned 30k/yr. Being rich makes it easier, but if we're earning more than subsistence wages we can afford to give. Of course everyone finds the balance that's right for them. I don't judge anyone else, just give what feels right to me.

Critical and not risky. Until you are accredited you cannot make risky investments. You could buy a business but need a lot more money first. (Ballpark 4m+).

So you don’t think the stock market is risky?

No, not at all by comparison. Of course 150 years of past returns do not guarantee future returns but the market is pretty darn safe.

What do you mean? Smart investments should be a top pri whether you make 200 dollars a year or 200K a year. Care to elaborate?

Invest in diversified 3-index-fund portfolio with small-cap-value fund tilt. Read this article for exact fund names: www.firetobiz.com/investing-basics. Also, I would recommend not investing all your money at once. Dollar-cost-average into index funds instead, to minimize risk. Good luck. (Never leave money at banks, your money loses to inflation, which is 2.5%-3% a year on average.)

Note: I would love to learn more about your investments, e.g. real estate and business, where I plan to invest in the future.

What else is there until you are making millions? The only other option I see is using the money for your own business or idea.
