Monotonous life

Why is life and job so monotonous? Is there nothing more to life than just doing job, come home, enjoy long weekends (if any) and then repeat the same routine. Guess we have found a pattern here. Feels like we are just moving and apparently doing something worthwhile and then one day will come when we die?
Guess there’s no real purpose to life apart from the fact that once u have had most of the experiences - life itself is meaningless. Feels like everything is temporary in life.

I feel the same sometimes. But I also recall how unpredictable my life was during 08 recession. I wasn't sure if I would get a paycheck to pay my bills at the end of week. So be grateful for what you have. Nothing lasts forever.

After trying these a few times it’s hard to even imagine having OP’s existential dissatisfaction, though I used to often. Though I didn’t ever use them for this purpose and some ppl have a bad time.

  • Sounds like depression and existential yearning. My suggestion: a therapist, possible a medication, more exercise and meditation. For me, finding meaning is often related to something bigger thanmyself. Try to connect to God or higher power. Even if you think nothing will happen be willing to try. God does not make too harsh of terms to those who seek him.

Please do not seek organized religion or a cult, it's a bunch of bullshit, they're social clubs with a purpose for people who can't find their own purpose.

If you need meaning in your life, don't accept someone else's being spoon fed to you. (That includes living by the company line or being solely driven by TC.) Spend time meditating/reflecting on what's most important to you and how you relate to others in the world. Learn from the wisdom of others but don't take them as eternal truths that apply to everyone.

All these patterns are self created. You're the author. Don't like patterns much - create something that would make you satisfied. Two of the worst things you can do are accept and wait for someone to come and fix it for you.

Life is meaningless, you're right. No one, but you can bring meaning to your life, till that point it's a blank canvas.

    Nihilism is a dangerous philosophy.
If you think critically, you'll know that the only truth humans can know is that there is something rather than nothing. Other than that, the true nature of reality cannot be comprehended by human mind. You cannot say for certain that gravity will exist the next second. Nothing can be said for certain. Science also becomes a belief. We believe scientific laws hold true, there's no fact about it.
Having said all that, you'll also figure out that you are free to follow any philosophy cause nothing really matters. The "nothing really matters" doesn't stem from "everything will die", but rather, "humans cannot know" +. Once you understand this, you are free to choose any philosophy of life. Coming out of nihilistic thoughts take time, but once you do, you'll be doing better.

Get an RV. Travel. Or just do anything that gets you out of the house. There's so much to see and do.

Check out Itchy Boots on YouTube. That lady made me believe there's a whole lot more to life than partying, working, and watching bullshit on TV.

Life can be awesome, terrifying, sad, happy, empowering, inspiring, devastating, and much more.
Don't let "boring" get in the way of all that.

You think too much. The life is just life. You eat, sleep, work and have fun in the world. That's enough. Or just set a goal and do it. Monotonous is nothing bad.

Do you like your job? Some people think you just work to get some TC and do shit but at the end your job is what you do most of your life, so it’s important to get satisfaction from it.

Of course everything is temporary. You won’t be here in 50 years. And nobody you know will be in 100 years.

Quit searching for some abstract meaning and appreciate the now.

Breaking the monotony is within your power. You are not a spectator in your own life.

Make things less monotonous. Go outside, spend time with friends, help other people. Life is very short. Do work you enjoy - sometimes it pays less or is not as stable but at the end of your life it's what you didn't do that will create regret.
