Have an offer for Associate position from Morgan Stanley for Matrix team. Tried to negotiate, but they sounded like they're pretty hard cap at 120K base + 15K prorated bonus for this year.

Experience: 1Yr FTE + 4 internships and many personal projects + CSE major.

Location: NYC

They seem like they only cared about my full time experience and nothing else.

Any advice?

In my opinion it’s a pretty good offer for a 1 yoe. Let’s see what’s others have to say.

Don’t read blind and take the offer. Good starting salary on which you can build on.

Its a great offer. People who start at MS get 90k base after 1 yoe

140K + bonus. Waiting to hear an offer from Audible and interviewing for Google and jet.com, but the recruiter is pressuring me with ultimatum and also saying they can't go a dime above 120.

I dont want to break your bubble, but some of my friends have 3 yoe and are at 120k base. I doubt they can go higher than 120 for 1 yoe

For 1 yoe it is really good offer.
But if you have google/audible/amazon - take them, even if for lesser salary. If you have to drop MS offer because you're waiting for audible's response - drop it. Not being patient enough and jumping into MS was my mistake, do not repeat it(unless you like corporate bs).

I don't want to disclose the team, even org. Different from yours so it may not be as bad as mine, but who knows, corporate culture may transcend throughout whole company:)
What I don't like: lots of bureauracy (even as for financial conglomerate) - every fart requires approval or ticket(and of course you have to wait for someone to pick it up and implement), and some things are not accessible at all(ssh into DEV host to grep the app config? forget it. Or raise a ticket. Or grab operations guy who has the access. He might ask you to create a ticket :) ), countless meetings, cheap slow workstations(still win 7, but that's the least problem).

Thanks you! This is great. It's the same where I am currently at, but we do get Macbooks if we don't like windowst. I think everyone in finance needs to understand better developer experience == better products.

If you can get Google or Audible/Amazon - go with that. But if you can’t - get down on your knees, thank the almighty and take this offer.
