Mortgage for family with different visas

I’m on H1 visa and my spouse is on F1 OPT. Anyone here had similar situation while applying for mortgage? Is that going to be a problem? I read somewhere that F1 visa isn’t considered for conventional loans. Does it mean that only my income will be used to make the decision?

I doubt it. They do ask for W2/payslip to prove income.

With current uncertainty on H4 EAD I think it’s better to stay on F1 for her. My immigration lawyer knows about this, in fact he himself suggested me to change her status from H4 to F1.

Already entered together multiple times lol. Even attended the visa interview and got F1 stamped. It isn’t illegal or against any rules. Each visa has it’s own purpose. Two individuals with different visas married to each other doesn’t imply a violation!

The bank should not ask for both of your paystubs unless both of your names are in the mortgage.
