There is literally nothing on the original post about FAANG and if you read the other answers there is a lot of non FAANG responses. Someone deserves to work at Accenture...

You really need to reread this... multiple times... you’re assuming OP had an offer from Wayfair (or even interviewed there) when likely their point of comparison is FAANG. & I start with an excellent company tomorrow ☺️

Reading is hard. Go back (button in the top left that says “Blind”), you will then notice he isn’t asking about his offers, FAANG or anything else your consulting eyes want to read into this. He is asking about cheap ass companies. Like other people on this thread I’m sharing about mine.

You really are stupid, the Amazon guy said I’m done, need a screenshot of that as well?

  • Basically any bank especially if you work in technology. Technologists in financial services are second class citizens at their firms, so not only is the comp shitty but you're also viewed exclusively as a cost to be reduced.

I think it's hilarious when people at tech companies like Amazon complain that they *only* get free bananas. Come to a bank and you'll be lucky if you get free lipton tea bags in the fucking pantry, let alone food and let alone competitive TC and RSUs.

So they give a lot of tc?
      Jul 7
    • The TC is good for a middle class household but not when compared to FAANG.

Very surprising but they have started walking that path.

    Cut down on togo boxes.
    Limited food on events.
Changed yogurt brand in the microkitchen.
No towels in shower room anymore.

Wayfair tell employees to share rides to the airport, need director approval to print in color, issues computers 5+ years old (engineers typically fair better but not always), don’t give any stipend for company phones even though you’re expected to use your phone for work (testing etc). Same benefits to call center and engineering employees in terms of time off etc.

Amazon, they don't care about employee health. No on-site gym or any reimbursement. Nothing is free or subsidized at Amazon
    Jul 7 1
    • Sounds like most employers. Do you think most people have a free on-site gym at their workplace?

Do you expect Amazon to wipe your ass for you too?

Amazon, you have to pay for a can of coke, and it’s more expensive than nearby 711
    Jul 7 1
    • That's called a vending machine buddy. News flash: very few employers give out free food and beverages.

Is this post satire given how much this site hates Amazon?

  • I nominate Wayfair.

    - Review/comp cycle happens in June/July, but raises don't take effect until October
    - 10 days of PTO per year, and sick days are deducted from PTO balance
    - Conference room screensavers display a reminder to "Stay WayThrifty!" by minimizing travel expenses, and booking flights earlier in advance
    - All desks are tightly jammed into every available square inch of the open-office floor plan
    - All desks, including SWEs, are outfitted with two tiny 21.5-inch monitors as their only display option (IT recently sent out a memo that they would be "reclaiming" any additional monitors they discover that go past that quota)

At least the snacks are free.

lol that Monitor policy is ridiculous. And where can one even buy 21.5 inch monitors these days?

I worked for a midsize company out of college that didnt pay for interview related travel costs. Flew down on my own dime to take interview.

I asked the HR person and it was a brand new concept to her.

Clearly your 7 yoe didn't matter
      Jul 7
    • trust me, they absolutely mattered and most of that 7 years were perfect experience for the role. It's just SAP is cheap af. The recruiter who gave me the vocal offer is probably underpaid herself. She was actually surprised when I told her after the offer that I'm an ex sap employee. She clearly didn't look at my resume or any internal system to figure out anything about my background before making the offer. I definately could've negotiated more, but I told her below 300 she doesn't even need to come back to me. Well and she didn't of course.

Honestly it is only moderately better at Home Depot. We do get free snacks and coffee. But the coffee was so bad until recently that I had to buy from Starbucks every morning. I worked at small companies before, so not having at least good free coffee and a soda machine not to mention free healthy snacks like apples, oranges or yogurt baffled me. Home Depot tried getting rid of the sweat shop vibe but kind of started getting it back. I just think it's in the nature of the beast of retail.
