I have 15+ year of experience and till about a year ago I was at a startup that was not going anywhere. Google reached out and long story short I accepted their job offer as an L6 as a Product Manager. I have been out of the BigCo job market for a long time and the 450K comp in Seattle seemed pretty awesome- esp. a few years of just making barely 6 figures. However now that I am here I consistently see that I may have been under-levelled on my way in. A month ago Facebook reached out and I am going through the interview process and will end up with a L7 role in a few weeks (fingers crossed). What do people say?
Well done!!! With that head on your shoulder, I’m sure you’ll do great whatever you decide.
Congrats! Well done. As L7, your scope spans across company. Getting promoted internally from L6 to L7 is incredibly hard and takes 2+ years performing as L7. Google L7 is equally hard if not more difficult for promo.
Facebook. Google down-levels all the time because it can, and you’re wasting your time with that. Go to Facebook and realize your potential.
Any tips on interview prep?
What was your job title at the startup and how old are you?
