Recommendations on moving to Irvine, CA for a Solution Architect? Plan to look for AWS TPM or SA role.

Currently in Bay Area. Will be moving with family w/ kids. Any recommendations on housing, schools, locality, job market, culture is highly appreciated.

Looking for Pros and Cons between both regions and worth the jump?

It’s not super white anymore. I’d say it’s more 50% materialistic asian 45% white 4% rich middle eastern 1% Hispanic help.

Bland, wealthy, Republican area. Manicured lawns, that sort of thing.

Hmm, not enough street crime for me. Any better places that are a little more run down?

If you already have amazon job lined up, then it is good to move there. There are not a lot of FANNG tier companies so expect to work at amazon Irvine for the long time.

Lived there for 5 years. The 405 fwy and the 5 fwy get pretty congested during rush hour traffic.

People normally choose to live in Irvine, Aliso Viejo or Mission Viejo and generally avoid Lake Forest, Costa Mesa and Santa Ana.

Work is generally relaxed and doesn't have the pace of Bay area. It's a lot harder to move companies compared to the bay. Couple of my friends had to wait 4ish months for a good opportunity to come up.

Life gets a little boring. The area is almost too clean and lacks identity.

Irvine is one of the best schooling districts in the country. If you can afford a place there, go for it.

It is comfy and wealthy, bland is good for raising family. Income to cost of living ratio is nice, but you will never get to super high income level there as the skill and motivation are not on par with Bay area or Seattle.

Good place to raise kids. Clean, low crime and good schools. Need a car to get anywhere.

Have read a lot about great place to live, good schools and close to 15k companies based in the area. House prices are high but no where close to Bay Area. Not sure about Tech job market, quality of life, commute etc. Any one from the area to provide details?
