I currently live in the South Bay but am starting a new job in SF soon and plan to move. My budget is 2k max for a studio. I actually grew up in WC and have a lot of friends and family there, so it would be nice to be near them. I’d live within walking distance of the Bart station too. I’ve seen some really nice apartments that fit within my price range. The East Bay is fairly boring overall however. SF would be a lot more fun. I have some friends here too and we go out constantly. The social life after work seems to be more active here than in the East and South Bay which is very exciting, and there are always events I’m interested in happening here too. However an apartment in the below 2k price range is hard to find or is kinda janky. Looking for some opinions.
There are some ok cardboard boxes in the Tenderloin for 2k, but that's the best you're going to get in the city for your price
Find roommates and split a place in the city. You’ll do that for 5 ish years then be ready to gtfo of SF.
Very attractive women in WC btw. If you're single, you'll have a great time. I'm so jelly you grew up there.
I just got out of a relationship a few months ago, but eventually I’ll jump back into the dating pool. Dating opportunities seem like they would be better in SF, but maybe WC has changed since I left.
What? Granted it’s been a few years since I’ve lived in the area, but WC was always a sleepy area with relatively few single young adults. I would assume the dating scene is much better in SF.
Depends where you work in SF. If it's close to Bart - WC is obvious choice especially considering your budget.
Def SF if you are single
There are so many nice apartments around pleasant hill bart.. take a look
I've been in your exact shoes -- def move to SF. Don't get an apt or studio. Share a nice apt/victorian with another professional for 2k each and the place will be much better. Most of the time your roommate will be at work or out having fun. Make some friends and compared to WC you will be having 10x fun. Focus on life experience for two years, and after that if you want to chill or get out then move to WC. I recommend hayes valley, mission, russian hill, soma if you can afford it.

I think you first need to find out where you can live for $2K in SF.
A few apartments came up on Zillow, but I can’t tell if they’re in a super shitty part of the city.
Wework offices maybe?
