Until last week MoviePass promised my annual membership will continue and I won’t be switched to crappified monthly cap of 3 movies. Their stock is down to $1, and Robinhood won’t allow you to trade in it. Many annual customers are posting screenshots on Facebook of requesting refunds, Costco is issuing full refund. How long do you think a MoviePass will last?
They won’t see 2019. The business model was always flawed and they pinned their hopes on being able to figure out how to monetize their data.
They are to blame themselves. Since day1, they never had a clear path to monetization.
Makes you wonder if the model can be sustainable at the right price and movie cap?
Nothing is unlimited. Unfortunately they realized too late. Same with this one: https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/chengdu-hotpot-all-you-can-eat-closed/index.html
I watched 27 movies using moviepass. I know from day 1 they can't scale, it was good while it lasted. Good lesson for any start up enthusiasts.
It’s so sad. I remember thinking “wow, this is so cool” when I first heard of it. I think there is a sustainable path for this somewhere (look no further than AMC’s adaptation of the club strategy). Unfortunately, MoviePass just couldn’t pull it off.
soon
Used it twice - once movie didn’t have seats and this wasn’t a day even in the first few weeks of a release, 2nd time card didn’t work. Closed my account after. One thing is to realize when something is too good to be true it really is that way. This crap has to shut down ASAP. Useless product.....
I watched 27 movies and my wife watched 15. It worked well for us
Its dead
, Jim.
It’s worth a few cents not a dollar. I only kept it until last week because I liked receiving those sad emails from the ceo. Now I’m on to better things at AMC a list and it’s sooo damn awesome.
Ironically may be a good revenue stream in milking monthly fees out of people who forget/neglect to cancel, a la credit monitoring services and other semi-scams
Already dead
