Hi Is it worth moving from the middle of lots of opportunities but very high cost of living to lesser opportunities but less cost of living ? Will it be possible to save money faster in OC and get a House as compared to Bay Area I would like to know what you guys think about moving out of Bay Area to OC but still in California About me: married and planning to grow family. How much TC can I get with MS + 3 YOE in software development. Please provide salary range in OC for software engineers. Only Irvine looks expensive in OC though. Note: I am not looking in LA county.
I moved to The Bay after living in OC for 1.5 years. IMO the increase in salary + future prospects outweighs the cost of living. Perhaps that is just for me as a single guy. I can imagine it could be different for somebody with a family.
Not much around here
Are you keeping job/salary or you will start searching there?
I will only move after getting a job offer in OC.
Not sure how easy for you to get a job there if you live here
What are the opportunities in Orange county?
San Diego is better than OC, go there instead.
Great for families, especially if you can land with amazon or google OC
San Diego is a better option
Based on what
Basically every metric, OC sucks. It’s just a giant boring suburb full of malls and parking lots.
Currently work in the OC but am in my early 20s so probably not going through the same things you are. That being said the homes are cheaper here than the Bay Area and the schools are great. Commuting around can be a PITA but if you’re in the bay it’s doable. Jobs pay less than the bay unless you land in a bit tech company in which case it’ll be around 10-15% less I think
I’m in the OC and just accepted a position with Microsoft making $175k TC (non-software)
There Azure team is in OC right?
Which city ?
What is salary cut for OC ? Based on that someone can provide more insights
