If I'm working in Sunnyvale / mountain view, what do you think is the best place to live? Single, female, 28 - like Al fresco dining / restaurants, beaches, walkable urban areas. Hate driving in my car. Don't need to bar hop. Don't mind seeing cute families around. TC will be $420k - so don't think $ should be a problem.
Nice TC given your age. If you hate driving in your car then you won’t want to commute, which means living in one of the surrounding towns like Palo Alto, Mountain View, Redwood City, etc.

The Fremont bridge connects to Mountain View directly. There's also the BART for Oakland.
Check out San Carlos, Redwood City, Menlo Park or Palo Alto. SC and RC are a lot cheaper comparatively than MP and PA.

RWC downtown is lame. If you want to live in peninsula, San Mateo has what you seek. Otherwise, PA would be best fit it sounds like
Really? In Redwood City there are 2 Octoberfest, a lot of festivals and other events. What's there in SM?
San Mateo is nothing but high schoolers.
Look for a place close to downtown Palo Alto/Menlo Park. Mountain View might be more price reasonable. If you optimise for commute, going to SF on weekends for dining/culture will be a good compromise. Don’t bother going more south than mountain view nor more North than Menlo Park. East Bay (Fremont/Newark/Milpitas Etc.) is a no go. Living in SF will be richly rewarding, but you will hate your life commuting to the Peninsula every day. Good Luck 😀
