Hello friends, I don’t know much about Dallas . This post is to review the offer received and is it good enough to move from Bay Area to Dallas or should I look for more opportunities in Bay Area. Same title no change. Base 165k Sign on 10k Yearly Bonus 10% of base Yearly RSUs 10% of base Current comp: 165k base and nothing else. Please don’t ask me the name of the company as I can’t disclose that. Thanks in advance!
Where are you moving from?
Dublin ca. It’s a Bay Area
Its obviously going to be bland vs bay area, however your green bucks will have longer legs in Dallas :)
I have been to Dallas about 10 years ago. Not very positive image and Dallas seems to me a very boring city. Maybe I haven’t stay long enough to discover all the fun stuff. But the salary should be very enough for live there. Good luck friend.
Thank you!
Dallas is not boring...you can find similar fun stuff to do here
Wow you can live a good life with that money in Dallas!
Thank you! Nice to hear that from Amazonian, the company who generally pays more than what I posted.
I used to live in Texas not Dallas but other large metro area and it was nice and easy life. I was also well paid! (Not as much as you posted but it was great for Texas). Do you own your house in California? If so consider how much money you will walk away with if you move!
Fantastic package for Dallas. While the location won't match the Bay, it has grown a ton in the past 3-5 years, so you should do more personal research on the area and what you like doing. Be aware that Texas gets quite hot.
Thank you ! it’s very hot is what I was told.
Are there any hiking and scenic places in Dallas where you can go on weekends?
Don’t Texans hate people from California?
I've lived in both Dallas and Bay area...I am not a fan of Texas in the summer but other 9 months are good. We used to go to lakes on weekends, some ok hiking near Austin but again summers are in the 100's. Easy airport to fly out of though and Love field has Southwest. You can't really survive without a car, but some places have some public transit etc. Most is suburban sprawl, so not much character, but some neighborhoods have some interesting things happening. Be ok with guns, be ok with trucks, be prepared for heat, and lots of Texas pride, but Dallas has a LOT transplants due to jobs.
Never move to Dallas. The money is good but your life will suck terribly.
