Hey colleagues, I’m just wondering how much is a good TC in case I’m moving to Florida from NYC. Years of experience: 5 ; Msc; Mba; development and management background. I’m also interested any FAANG present there ? #compensation #florida
Why Florida? I moved to Florida back in the 90s, and couldn’t stand the heat, the hurricanes, laybacks and slow working culture. I moved out after 4 months!
What’s laybacks
it’s where you lay down, on your back
Florida has very few companies presence. There are some companies but it is far from valley or nyc. Regardless TC. Senior full/web is usually around 120-140k. Top I’ve seen was 140k salary plus stock ~ 200k total Also rent is quite bad and humidity is really annoying
i would love to move to florida. seems like orlando and downtown miami have lots of growth happening
If by growth you mean rent prices then yes. I moved from downtown Fort Lauderdale. In 5 years rent went from 1.8k to almost 4K. Same apartment.
that’s crazy.. I heard FL and further north is where all the non-rift raft live now and it’s nicer than miami
It’s not FANF but there’s a good size remote salesforce presence in Florida. I’m just a senior dev and making around 180k. Many are making more. Low cost of living too.
no state income tax
Are you willing to refer me?
I moved to FL from Seattle. It's awesome as the food is cheap, and the male:female ratio is good too. 115k TC is equivalent to 170k in Seattle.
what part did you move to?
+1 for male:female ratio
Go for it, Florida is awesome. Lived in Tampa and had a great time. Miss those beaches here in bay area.
I like the idea of moving to Tampa - maybe all of us should build some startups down there
Google has an office in downtown Miami, it's small but expanding and has eng.
Wow. What competencies you need there the most? Are you willing to refer me ?
I haven't seen any opening so far though.
Depends what race u r. Most of Florida is like 70% white and 15% black and 15% latinx. But outside the big cities it’s all white. So if u don’t fit in the above 3, it will be hard to fit in.
