We are palnning to relocate to Hillsboro, OR from bayarea(family of 4). Fed up with skyrocketting rent and other expenses. Taking a 15% cut for a non tech role. How is the cost of living overall and schools ? Hearing housing market is crazy TC : 210 K
You’re planning to move but don’t know the cost of living and info about school quality?
Cost of living is cheaper by more than 40% in Hillsboro than bay area. But job opportunities are way less in the area (Intel and a couple of other companies).
I am curious, what type of non-tech role are you taking.. and how did you convince your employer to get non-tech role, while your skills/experience was anchored in tech.
Depends on the school, can be hit or miss. Private schools in the area are Jesuit and Central Catholic if that’s your cup of tea. Both top notch. Cost of living is very reasonable
Cost of living is better ( 30%) less than bay area. Schools in BEAVERTON school district have good ratings relatively.
That you for the info. Are you from Hillsboro? If yes, what is the median house price in those good school district areas ?
You can move to hillsborough in the Bay Area Ah I thought u we’re moving from Oregon to the Bay which is just cray cray
Corrected
With TC 210K? I doubt it.
