Moving to NyC

Couple of questions: I hate commuting for folks that have moved there, How hard was it to find a place close to the office? How much do I have to be willing to spend? Probably will end up looking for a roommate is having furniture worse since I would have to find an empty place?

Not difficult at all. You could live in east village or union square area and walk

At least 2k by yourself. 1200-1600 for a convertible 1br or 2br with a roommate

Realistically more like 2400 for a studio that doesn’t suck

why are you moving to google? Didn’t find a good team in FBNY?

Just wanted a change. But yeah fb office is much smaller in nyc than googles

You're looking at 2k minimum unless you want to go way out to Queens or Brooklyn.

Rooming isn’t as cheap as it used to be. 1600-1800 rent only works if having 3-4 roommates, 1900-2100 for just one roommate. Can get a DM studio for 2200-2400 so would recommend doing that instead. PM if you have questions.

I am a broker and I could assist you in finding a reasonable apartment. Landlords are giving good deals since the rental season is slow.

Consider Long Island City. Super easy to commute to Manhattan - one stop to Grand Central on the 7 train.
