I work in the Bay Area but recently received an offer to work in Singapore. I enjoy traveling there but don't have a sense of living there. Any insights? #expat
I just got back from there (for work). It’s super safe and super clean. The downtown is really modern and the rest of the area (at least what I saw) feels pretty rural. There are some cool bars that I would compare to SF bars. Also maybe it’s just because I was around my work colleagues, but there seemed to be a bunch of expats there.
TC? And does it change moving to SG?
TC?

Doesn’t feel like Asia. Super expensive.
It’s expensive but super well connected and also super hot. It is a good jumping off point for travel in SEA. I’ve taken several cheap flights out of there. It’s one of the best airports in the world, if not the best !
The weather is very humid, come for a holiday and test your sweat tolerance level first
Food is half the price of sf, I would say quality is better for the price
Better urban areas, streets are way cleaner, but less natural landscapes like in bay area. 0 tolerance for drugs, high taxes on luxury items (cars, alcohol, smokes), essentials are cheap (food, public transport), also applies to housing (condo vs flat)
Uber has left Singapore
