  • You can ask for the salary range from the recruiter. Here’s the challenge. I’m not sure if the California law applies to companies or applicants, bc you’re out of state.... maybe research that to start?

    • This is part of it.

So California passed a law that says, “hi, I’m a recruiter... I can’t ask you for your salary history but I can ask you for your expected salary for this role”

What happens here is that I’m not sure whether this applies to companies that are in CA or people who live in CA.

So I’m not sure who the law is protecting. I presume the little guy, but bc it’s a state law, I don’t know if it applies to those out of state.

Ask the recruiter for the salary range and see if you’re feeling adventurous.

      Adventurous is a good word.

    • The good thing is that bc you essentially have an offer in the bag, the recruiter is unlikely to rescind an offer bc you’re adventurous in asking. :).

The recruiter can’t say, they asked me the salary band, let’s go with plan B. The HM will tell the recruiter to suck it up and grow thick skin. Moving west is a big deal, I did it many years ago. I had no clue what I was in for.... the bay is expensive. The only cost that went down for me is taxi cost.... and not bc I’m at Uber. Lol.
