Moving to new york just for dating?
How easy is it to date in new york? I have heard mixed reviews. What about for tech people?
According to some girls I met who used to live in NYC, they said dating sucked for girls but was great for guys. The guys get to be much more picky in NYC apparently because the ratio is skewed
This is true in most big cities.
NYC is good for hooking up, not necessarily for serious relationships. In my experience living there, as with my friends (male and female), everyone has 'grass is greener' syndrome where even if if the person theyre with is great, they dont want to commit out of fear that something better will come along.

I could say the same about being a software engineer. “If you’re good it doesn’t matter where you’re located.” I don’t think either statement is true.
The Bay Area is a great place to build a career as a software engineer and a terrible place to date as a straight guy. Supply and demand is extremely powerful.

NY definitely has more opportunity. But it’s not about quantity but more about the type. If you’re attracted to white women and you’re white NY will offer you a much bigger pool. If you’re Indian, and you wanna date an American NY might not be good choice because you’ll most likely be taken for a yellow cab driver (no disrespect to them but an educated Banker/lawyer woman is unlikely to date a taxi driver).
Why do they assume you are a cab driver, Indians are in very successful careers...
If dating is important to you, more important than being at your company’s headquarters, sunshine, lower cost of living, etc., you should move somewhere with a better dating market. Everyone has different preferences and priorities.
