I've been proactive with my job search the past few months. I am a non software/programmer with mostly supply chain/planning and project experience the past 10 yrs. I've been fortunate to have a few onsite interviews, but have gotten rejection from almost all. Dropbox (went with someone with direct cloud experience). Amazon (felt I needed more game industry exposure for Amazon Game Solutions), FB (needed more procurement experience), Twitter (went with an internal candidate), Apple (rejected from one and still waiting on another onsite results 6 weeks later) For those who may have been in my situation or know of some things to consider, what did y'all learn from past rejections that helped with future interviews and finally getting an offer? I'm getting kind of frustrated with myself that none of these onsites have worked out. Not sure what I need to do besides be relax, be myself and keep trying. Thanks!!
That’s tough, as a non software/programmer it seems like you need relevant work experience. As a programmer we just need to pass the dang leetcode interview.
In the same 🚣♀️. Keep trying, network with industry buddies and apply nonstop on LinkedIn and Indeed. Work on highlighting your experience ( write an article or share relevant articles, participate in active forums on LinkedIn). Try taking a new course or certification to add to your existing profile
6 weeks to get result?
Yeah each time I reach out to Apple (3 times now), they keep saying they are meeting with the team and will have next steps next week :/
Well at least you didnt get rejected. But i think time is ticking against you
You are on the right track, learn from your mistakes in each of the interviews, always there is room for improvement, what thing that I like todo after the interview, analyze my answers and see what gaps and flaws I had. If the company provide feedback (some are very vague like Google) analiza the feedback and find the areas that require more polish. Besides that, whiteboard, notebook, books also safari online books (some public libraries offer safari ebooks online) Mock interviews, with our without people you can interview yourself and practice. Exercise and eat healthy, this will help you to clear your mind. Always there is a lesson in our mistakes
Try Google supply chain as another place to apply. It's hard because you think you're the perfect match based on the job description but then the company thinks someone else is the better match. They say interviews are generally biased and not good indicators of a good performer but what can you do when you're non SE that's what's used to determine fit. I'd prefer a test :)
I try to get feedback from the recruiters, but they usually don't reply after rejection email. FB did call to talk about it at least. Most of these companies have recruiters be point of contact. If you don't have the hiring managers email but they say u can get it from the recruiter, do y'all actually try to ask the recruiter or maybe find him/her on LinkedIn?
Don’t give up. Try until you get! All the best
Create an online portfolio of projects and direct contributions to them. This landed me a job offer. It's hard to explain the success of your project in an interview.
There are many hundreds (thousands?) of companies you could interview at and you listed only top tier or unicorn companies. Maybe lower the bar a little?
those thousand companies suck, that is why people try first at the good ones

Not every rejection is meant to teach you a lesson. Sometimes it's just not your time (or their time). If there is some recurring theme of interview where you fail, think about changing it else say f**k them and move on to next interviews.
