NVIDIA: (Santa Clara)
175k base, 220k stock/4
TC: 230k

High frequency trading firm (can’t name it, NYC) :
200k base, bonus anywhere from 25%-100%
TC range: 250-400k

6 years work experience, top 4 CS/EE bachelors + masters.

My current TC at a startup is 175k cash + fake money worth 150k per year at current valuation.

I got it from the recruiter. Is she full of shit? No written offer yet; they said they wouldn’t generate a written offer until I verbally committed.

There is no annual bonus. There may have been an anniversary bonus, which is like a 2nd sign-on paid after a year.

If you are asking a bunch of strangers what job you should take only based on money ... seems to be missing out on the things that actually lead to long term job satisfaction (work, team, manager, etc.).

Anyway, all the best in your decision

It might be joining bonus for two years. What you get is RSU. Nvidia does not provide cash bonus.

Not true. In some cases NVIDIA provide annual cash bonuses for 2+ years.

That’s a retention bonus though right? Meaning it isn’t tied to focal or focal results

I’ve heard that : 1. The work gets monotonous and 2. If you have a bad trading year for any reason, you get cut. Is that worth the big increase in TC ?

This is true for all companies .. I have worked for 5 different Companies and work gets boring after a certain time ..
A bad trading year would mean a cut on bonus only .. definitely worth the risk given current market bull

HFT offer is lower than I expected tbh. I'd ask for like 250k base, they're supposed to be high in cash since there are no RSU's.

From what I know too, they don’t offer annual cash bonus. You might want to check that with the recruiter.

220k worth of RSU! That’s way too high for NV offers

What’s the usual band for ic4 and ic5?
      May 14, 2018
    • Nvidia / Eng Sdfer
400 units for IC4 on the higher side, while the stock has oscillated between 200-250.

I told her that the rsu was more important to me. I’ve been in startups too long , without any exit
