Traffic is actually way worse than Manhattan. It’s Manhattan traffic at scale.

  • Pick where you live wisely. Warm weather means it's easy to walk, bike, and dare I say bird. Also the metro is good if you live near a station.

hey dude how is bird doing in LA? would you recommend?

    • It's hard for me to tell. I've worked at two tech companies in my life. Sometimes it can be hectic, but it can also be pretty great because of the impact you can make. I see and use the product everyday, even the specific features I work on.
Also, our unit economics are great. So I do actually believe in the long term future of the company.
Bird gets a lot of crap. It's a pretty easy target. But there are a lot of good things from the inside.
The base salary is very competitive, especially for LA. But the equity is paper money and probably will be for a while. So TC might not be the best because of that.

I believe scooters are important to the diversification of transit, especially in high density areas. Market seems so saturated, will Bird pull ahead?

    • From a user's view, we're all pretty much the same. But from a business view, Bird is currently ahead. Uber and Lyft are still burning cash to support their scooter businesses. Lime is the closest to us in profit margins, but they are still negative per ride. Bird makes money on average per ride. Not many other transportation startups can say that. Actually, I can't even think of one.

Traffic is horrible. But if you live close to work, you can bike to work about 95% of days (except those few when it rains)

Pretty good for lower levels ($180-$220 for L4), can't really compete with FANG the higher you go since we don't have RSUs

It's bad. Very hard to freely move around the LA area without being stuck in traffic for most of the day. At least in NYC you have decent public transit. The weather is amazing however!

I moved from Chicago for the same reason. if you have a car, invest in some window tinting because there is no skyline to block out the sun. it’s really bright here.
