Convince me that it's worth chasing after higher TC.

TC: 300K give or take.

    Early retirement.

But only if you can maintain your low TC standard of living while earning high TC.

Most people get sucked into getting a bigger home, fancy car, nice vacations, eating at nice restaurants, going out a lot, buying a lot of shit.

Then despite earning a top 1% income they have to work to 60 to save enough, where if they lived on what they previously did they could have retired comfortably at 40.

Once you are living that higher standard of living it is really hard to go back.

    • Itโ€™s ok. Everyone has their own approach to deal.
Some people want a good lifestyle and thereโ€™s nothing wrong in it

      Sure. Nothing wrong with it.

      Enjoy working until you're 65!

You are such a fool. What are you going to do between 40 and 44 when you die of a heart attack due to your raiding the snacks basket for breakfast, lunch and dinner and having non organic bananas.

Retiring at 40 is such a stupid goal and I know a handful of people who did that only to come back to work after a few years. Literally the only person I know who is retired at 40 has been retired since birth trying his whole life to find meaning.

To retire comfortably means being able to do whatever you want, not move to buttfuck nowhere, live off your 100k a year eating shit around shitty people.

But yeah FIRE hahahahaha, I pitty you unrealistic fools

Relax New, we now know who certainly will not retire at 40 - who knows, maybe you be a WM greeter at 80!

Lol, I could be "retired" right now with ~12m in assets and another ~3m rolling in from unvested stock in the next 2 years at 37 but I'm good, I like what I do. Good try though. What's your net worth ๐Ÿ˜‚?

FIRE. Financial security. Preparation for future layoff due to ageism, recession, disability, health issue, or whatever else life throws at you.

Make as much money as you can while you can. This gravy train won't last forever.

  • Iโ€™ve actually become more cheap as I got more TC. I find it intoxicating and a game to see how much more I can save. Iโ€™ll still look for the cheapest gas to save a few bucks and be frugal on basic items but then Iโ€™ll also spend good money on quality products, clothes and experiences

Actually no, philanthropy is a capitalist idea. Most of the wealthy Americans I know give generously to charities.

You're obviously not to same quality.

Socialists prefer taxation and social programs run by the government.
