Need advice on relocation to Raleigh, NC

I am relocation to Raleigh from NYC (Currently living in Jersey City). Can someone give me an idea about the expenses for a family of 4. 2 Adults and 2 kids under age of 5. What's the best places to live if my office is in RTP area. Also what would be the best places to rent? FYI, I am an Indian and would prefer a mixed neighborhood around. Also what would be the best place to buy an apartment where I can get best education for my kids as well as a good neighborhood which is safe and children can play out and mingle with other kids. Thanks in advance

Get ready for some good old fashion racism. Enjoy the south

Does it still exist in this world? Weird...

Wake county went 57% for Hillary.

Raleigh is all tech. Specifically it's all Indian tech. Cary and Morrisville are like 90% Indian. They are also where the Indian festivals are. You should be comfortable there.

Education is great there and they have Google Fiber in that area.

Thanks do you have any specific suggestions about the town houses/community in those areas?

I'm from Raleigh. Best places to live are in Cary or North Raleigh. I'd discourage against Cary though, it's too much of an Indian monoculture these days.

That's a good suggestion. Don't want to live in mini India for sure...

Any idea about the expenses though? Specially from housing perspective.

I loved in Cary/Morrisville for years. Great location and schools all over the county are pretty good. Expect to be able to buy a single family home for less than 400k pretty easily in a decent neighborhood. Also expect to become a 2 car family if you aren't already. Durham is probably the hipper my interesting city but also slightly more crime, depending on the exact area. But there are lots of Indian families in the area and the Universities. You'll be fine.

Oh yes never thought from car perspective earlier, that's extra money I would need :(.

It should be much cheaper than jersey to be honest.

Cary/holly springs is your best bet. Cost of living is slightly higher there than in raleigh proper but it's nice and quuet

Yep, Cary or Morrisville. Good luck!

I love Raleigh. I've been here since 2001. We just built a house in a new neighborhood and love it. If you want a yard, nice neighbors, and no traffic, check out Sweetwater by Satterwhite Construction. Houses are $400-515k, but all over 3000 sq ft with an acre lot..AND TREES! It is less than a mile to Neuse River Trail and 15-18 minutes from downtown Raleigh. Happy to answer any questions. I'd avoid living near Brier Creek unless you work in RTP. Getting downtown via Glenwood Avenue SUCKS.

PS. Parade of Homes starts in a few weeks. You should definitely visit then and tour neighborhoods.
