Need advice with job hopping

Hi all, I’m on a H1-B visa I have an offer from Startup A that’s about to expire in a week. It’s ~20% higher than my current salary. However, I haven’t interviewed at my “target” companies yet. This was my first one. Unfortunately, we were re-orged recently in msft and my new manager and team suck. I don’t think I want to be here for more than a month. Would it be bad if I take the start-up offer and continue interviewing? How do I convey this to the other companies interviewers? Just be honest with it? Or do I leave it out of my resume? It does seem like a shitty thing to do to just join and leave a couple of months later

why not just stay? msft has much better WLB to prep for interviews if you don't intend to stay at the startup anyway.

Like I mentioned above, I really hate my current team, haha. I do have an internal offer as well but I’m on the fence with that

sure but you can literally get by without working much at msft for 2-3 months. if you have an internal offer that would be a good alternative, a) you don't risk getting fired from the startup if you don't perform b) the short employment at the startup won't be in your resume (if you don't put it there, they'll ask you what the gap is about) I'd say +20% salary for a couple of months is not worth risking your professional reputation.

Usually offers that "expire" is pretty bullshit and is a way for the company to try to pressure you. Just take your time. If they like you , I would bet that if you come back to them in one month it will still be fine

^ this. always communicate that you're interviewing with multiple companies and that you'll reach a decision once you're done with all of them. if the company really wants you they'll keep the offer.

Thanks guys. Yeah this seems like the most viable thing to do.

I was in similar boat couple of months back ( on h1b, hated my team, had offers that I don’t like). I stayed at my current team, and spent good time for preparing and interviewing. Changing team or company is not helpful, because it would look bad if you take day offs for interview, slack from work for preparation, leave too soon. If you’re not at verge of getting fired if you stay on current team, use this time as opportunity to prepare for interviews.
