Bought stock when it was around $18.50 couple of months ago , and it was close to $30 yesterday . Stock shot up straight in a very short period of time and that worries me . I was wondering , Should I sell now and take long term capital gain vs hold on till end year end and make decision next year ? My point is , if there is some correction on the stock (10-20%) by year end , I’ll be still be paying less tax vs paper loss .. but if the correction is more than 30% then I’ll repent for not taking profits .
If you sell now, you take short term gain, not long term.
Correct . Thx
If you live in California there is no state long term capital gains discount. Make a spreadsheet and figure out the actual dollar delta where the equilibrium is, then decide.
I made 30,000 in 3 months. I will hold.
Bought at 13 and still holding. I think their past efforts are just paying off now.
Sell enough to recover your original investment if you are so worried. If the correction is more than 20%, you come out even or ahead.
I just sold and bought facebook, but it's a gamble

How many you have?
