Hey folks, I am a PhD student interning at Microsoft. I am applying for NIW EB2 self petition. To be safe, I need to obtain an intend to hire from an emplyer/manager, etc. Note that I do not need a job offer just someone with some authority gives me a letter of interest. The letter can have conditions such as if he is still productive, given the comoany approval, etc... it doesnt need to have salary or start date just sayi am interested in hiring him for the role ... and in this role he will do ..... given some conditions... If you can help me I really appreciate. This is time sensitive for me that’s why I am asking here. Best
I wish I had done what you are doing @expresmind. Great plan.
Can you potentially get that letter from your professor under whom you are doing your Phd ?
Hi OP, May I ask what was your interviewing process like? Did you have onsite interviews with a specific team? Or was it just phone/online interviews, after you pass them, you then wait for team match? Or do you get matched to a team first before there's even any interviews?
Is this intend to hire common to get when a company is interested on you even you if have not applied for the NIW yet ?
It's rare to have a PhD student get an EB2 approved but.... If you really want this letter, why don't you go out and get a job offer? Or ask Microsoft HR to draft one up for you. The easy fallback is H1b with full time employment and then have Microsoft petition for the green card after H1b is approved.
What do you mean? Are you thinking of EB1? Everyone can get an EB2, perhaps getting an NIW is harder (but definitely easier than EB1). And plenty of fresh PhDs get O1 and EB1.
OP hasn't even finished their degree. Not even a PhD candidate with the usage of the term PhD student. Everyone can get it... I'm saying it'll be rare to get approved as a PhD student.
