A friend has been approached by a startup in Utah called Qualtrics. He is in a PM role in a big tech company currently. Anybody knows how much influence PMs have within the company and any idea of compensation etc.?
What about the pre-IPO thing? Is it worth it to join for a year or two?
They've been pre IPO for a long time now. I'm not a betting man but I'd bet money they try to pull a shameless IPO like Domo is.
Qualtrics pay like shit! As a pre ipo company they pay less rsu than public companies because they believe their ipo will be huge! Then again their recruiters been saying that since 2015
Thanks for the info. You saved me some time
Seconding this. They hire new grads who want to stay in Utah county and pay them bargain bin salary. They reached out to a friend recently for a very senior position and ghosted him when he asked about salary. My interview experiences with them were one of the worst I've had. I guess their new grad hiring strategy makes many of their "senior staff" arrogant while inept. I say that not to prop myself up but I knew more than the interviewers did about the role (it was a new position, data engineering).
Company is a disaster with bad ego driven leadership. Average deal size is really low (low single thousands) and they have pushed off IPO several times. Look at Glassdoor reviews. A bunch of bad reviews over a normal date range and a bunch of good reviews on the same 1-2 days. Watch out.
Sounds about right from what I've heard. I talked with one of their former sales directors about it. Humble, great guy yet had nothing good to say about the company.

Had a technical call scheduled. Had to switch day before due to conflict that came up. Recruiter said he would reschedule and never did. I didn't follow up because I had read some questionable things on Glassdoor. My opinion is that other tech companies are better places to work.
