What should I do? I joined cisco an year ago for $110K package as a new grad in entry level position. Initially, I felt it was a decent package even though I was not offered any stock options or the joining bonus. However, my H1 got approved, so my status changed from October 1st and at this point of time I feel that I am not really making much money and with high cost of living, life is just miserable !!! I am considering options to move out but also thinking its probably too early to switch. Also since I am a non-exempt employee, I am eligible for overtime pay and my manager doesn't encourage the idea of overtime but he is pretry flexible with the timings. So its not really helping me much. Any suggestions on what I should be doing to make my life better and earn/save more money? Could someone who had similar experience in the past share how you overcame this situation? Are you happy now or just got used to it? Please suggest, comment and throw some light on topic. Thank you for your time in reading the post.
If it's just you, $110K is by no means unlivable or miserable to support just yourself. But it's definitely not a lot to have a lavish lifestyle. Cisco gives free clipper card for vta train. Move to a place where you can catch a train. Stay with roommates. These things are easier to change than your company. If you stick around for 1 year then you could aim for 160K+ TC. If you change now you will not be near that nor will you be able to change the other company so soon.
