Negotiate base based on other members leaving the team

I joined my team 2 years ago as a java dev and have done reasonably well till now. Most of the senior guys in my team have moved on and at the end of next month it will be just me and a lead left. The lead basically forwards emails like, "could you look into it" and adds no value. Can I pull my manager in and ask him to reconsider my compensation before the mid year evaluations by citing the dependency on me?

What city is this? You might be severely under paid.

@ootoya could you refer to me a software engineer role that is open at freewheel? Published on 4/22

Yes you can always ask, and sounds like you have real leverage. However if I were you I’d also look for other opportunities as well.

Give it a shot!, use the opportunity to get most out of it. If not TC ask for a promotion or better role!

I fought for a promotion in this case. Unfortunately, while I did get a promotion, I did not get a great TC bump and the director justified it saying they didn't have enough quota, we at least got you the promotion.

However, when everyone's leaving, it's good to look into the reasons. It could just be coincidence but try and find out.

Well your director did your company a solid by giving you a promotion with the minimum possible raise. If you had an external offer, then he would have changed his tune.

Well, I did start interviewing and got offers 1 year later at which point they were willing to match my new offer to have me stay. While I loved my team, it was too late by then

Also, when asking for a TC bump or promotion, make sure your word things properly, not just saying you deserve it because they have just you. Show them what you've done, show them how you've stepped up to multi task, make them realize your worth.
