Negotiating with multiple offers
I got verbal offers from Apple and Microsoft for design verification role bay area and am planning to go with msft if they match with Apple's offer. Do msft recruiters ask for official offer letter while negotiating ? I dnt think Apple would give me an official letter untill I accept the verbal offer. MSFT -136k + 130k/4yr + 30k/2yr sign in Apple - 150k +105k/4yr +25k sign in Current TC -125k Yoe -4
This is a good place to be in. Congrats! Apple wont dish out an offer letter until you verbally agree. MS recruiter should know this.

Most places know another company won't give a written offer till you verbally accepted, so if you say "I have another offer" they know it's only verbal and won't expect you to show proof. Just be honest in your negotiations and recruiters will generally respect what you say.
Google recently started asking for real offer letters.

Microsoft will never compete with an offer from Apple, and Apple will not care about your Microsoft offer because they know how little they pay in comparison. Your best bet is to get an offer from Facebook or Google and tell Apple in an attempt to force them to increase theirs. Source: I got an offer from Apple and Microsoft too, and the negotiations went nowhere until I went out of my way to interview at Facebook.
