Marc Lore is imposing this bullshit Jet com "neighborhood seating" system upon us at Walmart Labs. We're losing our assigned desks. What do you guys think of this? I am hoping it's a very short-lived experiment
I think it's great. Makes working from home a lot easier.
I wish my team had that option
Happening here too
Soooo... where are you supposed to keep all your crap (the stuff you need to do your job) that you'd normally keep in/on your desk?
Storage lockers and cabinets. So I'll spend 15 minutes gathering my things, setting them up and making sure I have a desk with two monitors
It sounds like a passive aggressive way to get people to show up to work earlier. I'd never survive...
Oh man. I hate the open workplace trend. People need a desk with privacy. It seems to be the trend. Workbenches for all. I went into tech so I wouldn't have to sit at a fucking workbench.
So stupid. Neighborhood seating works at Jet cause they also get free beer. Give me free beer and I'll sit next to whomever they please.
Beer makes everything easier.
As a full time remote person, I expect it will make it easier to find a desk when I do come into the office. But if I worked in the office and no longer had an assigned desk, I'd be pissed.
Lucky. The only thing I like about working in the office at San Bruno is the view
We are becoming factory workers. The next step will be a union.
A union at Walmart? Good luck with that.
Well... if it works for Jet, it should work for us, right? Lol
Of course , jet bought us. They were so successful and know engineering well enough than Walmart Labs will ever do. Right :-)
It sucks.. you keep pinging people on slack as you don't know where are they in office. Makes impromptu discussion harder as 30 min will go in collecting people from all around ( problem it was suppose to fix)
I don't mind it. Only slightly annoying when people leave their shit around. But otherwise I don't feel much of a difference from assigned seating.
I want the freedom to leave my shit around
