I went through 5 rounds of interviews Q4 of last year and decided not to join because I wanted to see how this acquisition panned out. My mentor advised me to be careful when joining at this time, especially since Oracle has a reputation of ruining great company's they purchase. Looking for some opinions on both side of the fence from top performers. -Work life balance: -Compensation -Culture -Training resources And anything else that would be helpful now that NetSuite is knocking again.
a lot of office politics the is making a few people I've talk to start to look for other places
Agree with XVKz71. Negotiate a high base salary as Oracle will rarely give out raises, even performance based. Oracle makes the sales cycle incredibly hard since the company operates in silos and no one communicates with each other. Policies change at least once a quarter, if not monthly or weekly. The tools at Oracle are a joke, but after years and years of growth by acquisition, is anyone surprised? I swear it's the cobbler's children running around with no shoes. We have access to amazing technology but no one properly implemented any of it to make the company run more efficiently. Sales operations is a joke. Also keep in mind, NetSuite was acquired so Oracle had an SMB product to offer. NetSuite acquired sales reps, from my understanding, are subjected to only sell to companies less than $250M in annually revenue. Given how you have to fight to get an appropriate discount to even be comparable to the competition, it's amazing to me Oracle's made any money at all. Oh, and once you've sold a customer, good luck if Oracle provisions it correctly. Half my day is trying to correct incorrect orders because the policy changed 4 hours ago. The one area where Oracle has kept me is the compensation. The comp plan for application positions (SaaS only), is awesome. I've been lucky to knock my quota out of the park and be number one in my org but I'm in the minority. To make serious money and not have to travel and most of the time I leave between 5-5:30, I'll take it but again, I'm in the minority. I'm obviously giving you a picture of when NetSuite will be fully assimilated into the Oracle eco system. So if you don't like what I mentioned at the beginning, I'd pass on the opportunity.
This is very helpful and I appreciate you taking the time to go into this level of detail.

Negotiate a salary higher than u think u want. Because raises are sporadic at best.
Thanks for the info. Do you have any insight for how the acquisition has been for the AEs everyday work life? Would you says it's been an improvement?
