    > She cried all the way home on her six-hour flight to Los Angeles, wondering how she would break the news to her pregnant wife.

Dayum...they are even harsh with people in protected classes too

Yeah, Netflix is supposed function as a sports team. Tell me a single sports team (which doesn't always loose), where there is diversity hiring - oh lets hire some 5'6" Indians in the basketball team. Oh lets throw in some skinny asians in the American football team to help with the mix :)

But the damn SJW won't let a company operate that way, there is always someone whose sentiments get hurt when we fire under performers and there is also someone trying to write articles to make money off it.

SJWs are the people the Chinese make fun of as helping destroy our culture while they gear up to make the next century be ruled by them. They even have their own word for it:

Netflix used to be mostly engineers. It's more and more a studio so Hollywood SJWs blend in.

Every single anecdote is true in this article. The original draft was even more brutal.

And where did you find the original draft? Link or it doesn't exist.

Fuck this POS paywall garbage. Why are you linking something most people probably don’t have subscriptions to?

Wsj is the best news source out there. Many employers offer access as a benefit. If yours doesn't, shell out and stop reading salon and gq for political opinions

Paywalls == no need for clickbait trash == top quality reporting

@pcnw.. are you serious? WSJ lost its charm post Murdock effect., it’s just a softened Fox News. While you are at it, please go read bio of all opinion writers and their business news writers. Most of them from Fox. It’s basically a right wing fake news aimed at business.

Their opinions range from far left to far right, the editorial board is very left. In 2016 the editorial board and the reporters were practically going tit for tat with each other every day. The reporting is without bias or sensationalism. But if you disagree please cite an article

There is no “very left” in the US.

I think the article is true for the most part. Firing and culture of fear is a real thing. I guess that's what makes Netflix nimble. I think in general, most people are lazy, they either need strong motivation or fear to perform at their best level. First (motivation) is hard to apply generally across thousands of people - everyone has different motivation factor. Fear of getting fired on the other hand is easy and same to everyone.

I like it here, a lot more than other places I have worked. Netflix is very different company, people who like it like a lot, those who don't, they hate it.

      how’s the TC?
      Oct 25, 2018
    • Netflix NFLXnChill
TC depends on team and individuals skill set. Median TC is around ~300k. Everyone is at the same level, so for people with 10+ years of experience, Google or FB will most likely pay more for level 6 and above.

Do you ever feel stressed because of that? I'd be always stressed.

And how does the fear/stress affect the wlb?

Posted a reply to this question at the end.

“Taking stress and stress management are personal issues and different people cope with it differently. For me, I am sure that firing won’t be a surprise, and I will be able to get a job outside pretty quickly - provided companies are hiring. And even in the worst case, leaving US is not the worst thing that can happen to you, in fact it could be great thing.”

just curious- how many h1b visa holders work at Netflix? Constant stress of loosing a job and deportation would take its toll on me.

A lot, including myself. Any top tech company will have a lot of H1Bs.
