Netflix for H1B

Hypothetically, if you were offered a job at Netflix that does interesting work and pays more than your current job, would you take it while on H1B?

Half of Netflix is on H1B. What’s your point?

I think OP is implying at that Netflix allegedly doesn't PIP and fires right away. Which risks immediate deportation for an h1b holder

It's not easy to get put on pip. It's fine unless one is a lazy fuck

I would love to go to Netflix!! But I hear they only hire senior engs I am only a puny L4 insect 😒

Uber moober Mar 11, 2019

They hire new grads. I just interviewed one at uber who left Netflix.

Been at Uber for 2.5 years now ( no prior exp) Will I be out under new grad in Netflix ?

Don’t do it on H1B. Many people get fired for apparently no reason.

Interesting, there’s no pattern in them? Also like Amazon mentioned above there seems to be a lot of H1Bs.

@roma could you write a couple more lines on why people get fired according to what you’ve personally seen? I am looking to apply for a role there and am quite scared by opinions such as yours. I’ve read the culture deck btw. Thanks!

4 months severance pay would want to make new get fired. And hey, H1 comes with 2 months notice period. And I don't know if Netflix will have you on payroll for sometime

This Glassdoor review summarizes it all

Netflix Memyself Mar 14, 2019

It doesn’t summarize anything. There are plenty of Visa holders here who are happy and will never leave. There are a handful who might be scared of getting fired but I think it’s just lack of confidence in self. Bad managers holding grudges will never survive in Netflix.

Netflix Roma- Mar 14, 2019

Wait till you find a bad manager 😀

Netflix enjoylyfe Mar 14, 2019

There is good and bad. If you are on H1b and/or single breadwinner, don't join Netflix coz it's a big risk. If you have a spouse who also works and you can go on H4 as a worst case, definitely try it. Also be ready to be let go at any time

Microsoft tech.ladki Mar 14, 2019

With 4 months severance pay, letting go is a welcome gift.

Not if you go out of status.
