How’s work life balance, growth opportunities, and environment? From culture deck, freedom and responsibility sounds pretty good. But is there a ramp up period for new hires? I heard a lot about culture of fear and keeping only highly effective people. What are common cases/ behaviors cause ppl to let go or misfit with the culture? No trolling.
I hear they pay the most but only want the best. So if you arent and get fired within 6 months you will have to wear a scarlet N on your neck
If you are exceptional and are willing to always push yourself and others, you should have no fear. It’s the hardest job I’ve ever had but the most rewarding. I’ve learned more about myself, management and how to think out of the box than I have ever before. There typically isn’t an expectation for you to come in and work at 100% on day one. Netflix is incredibly complicated (as most tech companies are) and the expectation is that you apply yourself, are constantly curious and will be comfortable with being uncomfortable. But maybe that’s the koolaid talking. But I’m ok with that as well...
We don’t reward hard work, so if you can be effective in a short amount of time then that is a great thing! Many people pursue work life integration rather than balance. There absolutely is a ramp up period and you should feel comfortable asking your recruiter about that. As for “growth opportunities”, you shouldnt take one job expecting to have a different job soon.
RE growth opportunities, it depends what kind of growth you mean. Financial/TC growth you can do within the same role, since it’s top of personal market. Same with your level of impact since the org is flat and access is great. Growth into management is a bit harder since appropriate openings are usually scarce, but there are plenty of people that move around and change roles within the company.
What are the different levels at Netflix for Product Management? Is it Senior Manager -> Director - Sr. Director - VP? How hard is it to go from senior manager to Director?
Product management is not the same as people management. If you want to manage people, you should look for that kind of role. Alternately, you start as a product manager and eventually make a role change.

Tipping culture is really getting out of control! Waiter gave me ‘a look’ because I tipped her 10% for ‘BAD service!’
If you’ve shown good performance and got respects from your colleagues at Apple, you will do good at Netflix for sure. Don’t get fret by culture deck.
