For a senior software engineer position. How can I prepare, given that Netflix doesn’t have a standard interview process? The team does distributed systems stuff and the process this far has been a chat with manager and coding exercise.
Can you please share more about the coding exercise?
Read the culture deck again and again and come with detailed examples and not just big words. I saw many capable candidates failed at those rounds. The coding will be very practical ones and a couple rounds of system design. If you feel uncertain, reach out the the recruiter or the HM asking for what you shall prepare
I’d also come to the table with questions - being curious is core to the culture. Literally asking how the HM applies various aspects (be specific) in their day to day...
Understand the culture deck and make sure it truly resonates with your background. As for prepping technically, be prepared to give deep and detailed explanations of your previous work experience, as well as having lots of practical knowledge of the technology you'll be working on. You should be able to demonstrate proficiency with the tools you'll be using. Also, your recruiter will give you a good understanding of how to prepare too. Hope you join!
Beyond the culture pieces above (which I second) be ready for more design kinds of questions.
Thanks netflixers! Would you know the best way to catch recruiters/HMs eyes? I have applied for a position which I think matches with my experiences very well (the system the hiring team built is very similar to what I worked on). I hope I don’t get missed out by missing a keyword in resume ;)
Netlfix HM receives a lot of resumes. Sometimes it got overlooked, sometimes your background are very similar to folks who are just interviewed and bombed so the HM unconsciously formed an opinion to skip those resumes, or some times just pure luck that your resume not stand up.
Thanks for your response @yesottoman. I definitely understand there are many factors that may lead to passing an application. But I was wondering if there was something I could do to increase resume review chance.
@OP how was your onsite interview experience? And what were the rounds like: leetcode, design or cultural fit?

What were the HM chat and the coding exercise like? Behavioral? Knowledge test? Coding exercise difficulty?
