I have Netflix and Cruise onsite next week. While I dont know if I will pass both, I am leaning toward Cruise if got offers, and thatz why preparing more for Cruise. Am I crazy?

Google phone screen is scheduled for next week as well but the recruiter said its a 2 month long process. So if that works out ofcourse that will be my first choice.

Also talking to few startups and few internationl orgs, Agoda is one in Thailand, but not really excited about that just yet. what would you do?

Netflix. Trust me on this— you absolutely do not want to join Cruise as a PM.

As a Cruise employee I suggest you consider carefully before joining. PM me for more information if you're interested.

Yeahhhhh. It's not great. There are a lot of inter-team issues, at least in infra.

      CLAP! COME ON, CLAP!

WJBA12 has been all over Blind badmouthing Cruise, and has been saying some questionably racist stuff in our internal channel. Cruise does have its problems but I would take what this guys says with a grain of salt

@cruise123 I'm not "bad mouthong" cruise out of spite. I've worked at other companies before and they all had their share of problems. Nonetheless, I didn't feel compelled to share it with others. But Cruise is an exception (in my opinion). I see folks who are thinking of joining the company and I want them to know what I would have liked to know before joining. I always tell them in private messages that I'm biased and that they should talk to more people before they make up their mind.

Blind is an anonymous forum and everyone has an equal say. I disagree with your assessment of the culture at Cruise, but I think those who read your comments loudly bashing Cruise should also know that you are the kind of person who talks about Asians as if they are all one group scheming together. The fact that you think that’s alright reveals your character.

Since you've made your comment, I deleted all my posts about Asians. Not because I take back what I wrote, but because I dont want to offend anyone. I still believe that what I wrote is the truth and is not racist. But, if you or others believe it is, then I deleted it.

Are you a PMT at Amazon and are all 4 yoe as a PM ? How did you get the interviews

There was a PM who came to Cruise from Netflix and was fired in 3 months because he disagreed with the CTO

Wonder if he was able to go back to Netflix. If it’s only 3 months, I wouldn’t even put it on my resume.

Was L5, got promoted to L6 first year- miss leveled at hire. Cruise and Netflix are Sr PM and Google is L5. The recruiter said I could try for L6 now or they can assess during the interview but it will be really hard based on what I have heard so happy with Google L5.

Is the recruiter recommending L6 PM at Google (equivalent to Amazon L7) with a total of 4 yoe ??

      OP
My current scope is of L7 at Amazon. The recruiter was open for me trying for L6, based on what I have delivered and what I am working on but was pushing toward L5 to ensure I can get in. I agreed with her in the end.

That’s pretty good. Do you have total 4 yoe or 4 as PM ?

Total 10 years experience mostly as a project manager, 4 years of product experience at Amazon.

If you have L7 scope (and enjoy it), maybe get them to match (dive and save) with an external offer?

Both are PMT roles, Netflix role is good with ML application, but Cruise product is really interesting to me personally. i have read here on blind that CRuise pays well, so lets say comp is comparable.

Cruise pay is definitely not comparable to Netflix pay.

Thanks Cruise people, appreciate your candid feedback. I will report back after my onsite later in the week about my impression of the work culture. You guys have an awesome product, I hope management fixes the culture issues soon so you can deliver on the vision.

I really like it here. It’s definitely not a sure bet like Netflix but we have some interesting problems to solve. I’m sure there are some cultural problems on some teams but mine is great

Netflix pays a ton, and probably has longer term job security. But not knowing the roles, I really cannot tell you which is better. Cruise might be a great fit!

$195k seems on the lower side for L6 PMT at Amazon. Which city are you in?
All these companies will definitely beat that. Cruise will have a significant component of RSUs that are paper money till (and if) the company goes public, so that’s something I would consider.
Of all these Cruise might get you the most exciting work as the product is still being created. I’m not sure about your long term career trajectory though; Google/Netflix or even Amazon might help you more over there.
Do you think you have a path to grow at Amazon considering you’ve been at L6 3+ years?

Yeah mate, the reason why I am looking outside. Since I got in as L5, when I hot promoted it was at the bottom of the band. I am in Seattle.
I can certainly see L7 in next 2 years if I stay with Amazon but the TC is killing me so need to go out try something different and maybe come back. Cruise still gets my vote because of the product.

Are you a L5 or L6 PMT at Amazon? What levels are you targeting for Cruise, Netflix and Google?
