Stock is still overvalued. Most of the originals suck and our CEO is too afraid to try out any new product ideas- live sports for example

Realistically, there is no other reason except a significant title inflation

This is what sports streaming looks like. Huge numbers (25 million viewers for cricket in India) concurrently streaming with shitloads of complaints.

There is zero margin for error. If an OTT stream buffers, people don't consider it the end of the world. If you glitch out on the final over of a cricket world cup, your offices will be burnt down.

I have reached out to the content team from the top to mid levels many times and they don’t even care about cutting costs or acquiring new up and coming content for penny’s on the Dollar from what they normally pay. In the long run if they don’t change they will lose a lot of market share.

20B/year revenue run rate growing at 33% yoy is impressive. If they continue to grow at that rate for 5 years it will more than justify their valuation.

Calm down. We survived 80% draw down and back up 4000%. This will pass too. 12% is nothing for a high beta stock.

Price hike + slowing production of exciting original content + they’re reaching peak subscriber numbers in the US. International growth + retention is going to have to be their focus from now on.

They’re at a major disadvantage to other content creators too, since they only have one revenue stream for their OC. When another studio produces content they have licensing and merch, secondary distribution markets, etc. that offset costs.

But I think they’ll continue to increase revenue abroad, it’s just something they haven’t communicated to stockholders very well. They’re going to have to stop saying “we’re worth $400 per share because of domestic growth” and say something else.

For Google and Facebook, the value of a user varies significantly by location. US users are worth several times more than Greek users.
For Netflix that isn't the case. All users are almost worth the same.

@NetflixEng Not completely true due to currency fluctuations. Look at Argentina.

@HBO - truth - it’s all about international. If we never add another domestic subscriber, it should not really matter in the long run.
