We are wanting to build an app whereby users (customers) can connect to companies they show an interest in. For example, if I care about Banana Republic, McDonalds and Geico (eclectic mix, I know), I could associate with them. Then I could see special deals/coupons (and maybe later news) about these companies. No adtech invasion of privacy: What is presented to the user is based solely on their intent. Would anyone be interested in such an app? Think about as LinkedIn but connecting to companies instead of professionals.
I am not shooting down your idea right now. Just trying to see what’s your vision.
Vision is a network where users (customers) can connect to companies, and eventually manage those companies. Management of companies is a very generalized concept, but it can mean controlling the information you share and/or the way you interact with their digital products/services. But that is a long term vision, nothing gets going until there is a huge network of users. For that, I need something of use immediately, hence my idea about coupons/specials in the intro post.
I get your idea.. it’s definitely worth thinking more. I will give you more feedback as I think more about it.
This sounds exactly like Twitter (if the users just followed companies)
Twitter can do a lot of stuff this is supposed to do.. but I think this is more focused towards this use case
While using it to manager companies is very ambitious, this definitely can give a strong feedback loop to companies from their most loyal customers

Sounds like an idea! But what’s the benefit for consumer? He/She will get coupons? It can happen on Groupon. And no company will want to make coupon accessible to only a specula group. They would rather make coupons accessible to all, to maximize number of people going to stores or website. And also to maximize sales.
You make great points. Let me break your arguments down so I can answer one by one: "But what’s the benefit for consumer" - the benefit is being able to easily interact with these companies. To start off with, it will just be coupons/specials, but a long term vision would be more in-depth interaction. But to answer your question directly: An easy way to see coupons for the companies that I am interested in, and use them easily from my mobile device. "It can happen on Groupon" - true, but this idea is more aimed at users who are interested in companies, not users who just want coupons (for those users, there are many coupon sites, not only groupon). These sites are all over the place, not really allowing users to form any intent relationship with a company (they are all about deals). "And no company will want to make coupon accessible to only a specula group" - yep, this is network problem, in that it won't be useful to companies until there are lots of users, and there won't be users until there are lots of companies. To pull this off, we are gonna have to hack it somehow.
