TC for all about 180k Yoe: New grad (1~ yr of internships) graduating May 2019 Note: haven't received Google offer yet but am expecting, though I know it's far from guaranteed but give me the benefit of the doubt for now :p I'm very interested in the autonomous vehicle space and not keen on FB for product reasons but am interested in good mentorship and growth. The Series A startup is in the autonomous vehicle space and has a lot of ex-Google/FB. I'm leaning towards Uber ATG but would like to hear thoughts from people. Thanks!
It's pretty team depended. What are you doing at these companies? What makes this difficult is that your a new grad and it's always nice to start at a big brand name company for a year or two. But my instinct tells me that you should do the series A. You'll learn so much and gain so much responsibility. Uber ATG is great but is team dependent
Not sure what I'd be doing specifically at these companies. Most likely backend development at any of them. And yeah personally if I had maybe 3 yoe I might choose the series A but I think I want that cushion of a strong start on my resume. ATG seems like a strong enough start that's still in autonomous vehicles.
That's a good way of thinking about it
Former Amazon intern?
Yes but not considering return offer
Hey, are you like an Ivy League student? I mean, how did you crack such terrific offers? Leet all the way?
Thats flattering I guess but no. I've done maybe 30 leetcode problems and other than that just did well in my CS program, retained what I learned, and read through some books. I'm at a top 30 school, but unfortunately not an Ivy.
Uber ATG is prestigious and will give you a lot of mentorship opportunity
ATG has 10x potential. Stock issued is from Uber which is great because even if ATG fails your money is secure.
Wow that's a pretty strong response to go for ATG. Anyone have anything potentially negative to share about ATG or any reasons to go to FB/G?
Is the startup Nuro? If it is I would advise you to highly consider it. They have great people on their team and the space they’re in makes a lot of sense. And at a smaller place you’ll have a lot more impact. Only downside is the risk.
It isn't Nuro though I did consider them. However, Nuro's interview process was too long and I wouldn't have finished in time due to other deadlines. (My friend's experience with Nuro was 3 phones and an on-site)
Hm, Aurora? (Pm me if you’re more comfortable with that, am genuinely curious about their new grad comp)

Uber ATG has high bar and being a new grad, you must be really smart. I hope you’ll join us.
That's nice of you to say! and yes I will be joining!
