I got a lot of useful information from my last post a week ago and got my last response from interviews and would like some insight on these two choices Google Engineer Residency: 12 month program where after there is a high chance on converting to full-time Facebook: 118k /200k /70k Is the wlb as Facebook as bad as what I hear on here, that it's worth doing the 12 month residency and converting to full-time at Google, or is it over exaggerated and should I go with fb?
I hear residency will ultimately make you hate google
Why?
Low pay busy work because they know you’re desperate to work at google. You’ll likely see inefficiencies in the residency program that will drive you away. That’s not to say all of google is like that, but I’ve heard pretty negative things about the residency including (on average) a low conversion to full time offer. Skip it. To Facebook, leetcode, get into G
There is no wrong answer, but ask yourself if you want to work harder now to advance your career quicker and save some money in the bank. You can always switch companies in a year or two.
Facebook. If you go FB now, you can always go to Google full-time after (higher TC than what they would give you now) If you go Google resident, the chances to go to FB won't be the same.
I've worked at Google before and currently work at Facebook. The residents I've worked with at Google have all enjoyed the program and freedom of trying two different teams before eventually converting to full time, but you'll make a lot more money working at Facebook, and your career will grow a lot faster. Facebook promotes much faster than Google, but it's also more stressful because you have a limited amount of time to go from 3-5.
What does the 118/200/70 breakdown mean? Is 200k TC? Or RSU over 4 years?
200 rsu over 4 and 70 sign on
Man that’s crazy. For new grad role?
Would you mind sharing info about the TC and other benefit for the google eng res offer?
